This interactive 2-day training provides the knowledge and insights needed to understand the basics of a Project Management Office (PMO), its different formats, and the services it should provide in order to run a successful product development company. You will learn about the roles and facets of a PMO as well as its responsibilities within a cross-functional organization. Regardless of the size of your organization, the PMO guides project managers and members of project teams on organizing work, how to run projects, and how the individuals are engaged. We will discuss the six imperatives of a “good” PMO: Transparent information, connected business strategy, defined governance, predictable execution & delivery, explicit benefit realization, and a robust methodology & toolkit, and you will find practical advice on how to build those over time. Finally, we give you an in-depth understanding of the importance of building a strong culture that fosters accountability and promotes ownership, transparency, and clear roles and responsibilities.

Norbert Leinfellner

Norbert has a long history of passionately implementing cultural change, engineering excellence, and project management capabilities at medical device companies which are increasingly challenged to deliver value in a rapidly changing market. The cornerstones of such a cultural change include the implementation of effective project and portfolio management and the transformation to a matrix organization that promotes ownership, transparency, and clear roles & responsibilities. Norbert has developed and applied a number of leadership frameworks tailored to the needs of his past roles at companies like Element Science, Fresenius Medical Care, Carl Zeiss Medical Technology, to name a few. Norbert holds a PhD in Physics from Technical University Graz, Austria. During his spare time, Norbert enjoys running marathons all over the world and runs trails on the Pacific Coast and in the Sierra Nevada. He has also completed many ultra-marathons, some of them a hundred miles long.
