The first US Pharma PPM Toolbox will take place in New York City on January 20-21, 2016.
It was just five years ago when the first Pharma PPM Toolbox took place in Vienna, Austria. Organizer: some unknown new company named EBCG. It seemed impossible and, let’s be honest, a bit foolish to even try to compete with established PPM events. “Five years ago, the last thing the Pharma world needed was yet another ordinary PPM conference. But we were stubborn. We started from scratch in 2011, not even having a proper office – and against all odds, the event was a tremendous success. And here we are today, organizers of the (by far) biggest European conference for Pharma project & portfolio managers,“ says Stefan Nad, co-founder of EBCG.
Why did it work? How is it even possible that we had 150+ people attending on our last European event? We believe it was a combination of hard work, almost naive determination and deep belief that we can and will do it better than the others. This approach has brought us to an important next step: the first ever US Pharma PPM Toolbox that will be held in New York City on January 20-21, 2016.
Not Another Typical Business Conference
Again, it required hard work, determination and belief. Did it pay off? Well, you tell us! The speaker panel already consists of 20+ speakers and is still growing. We have great and enthusiastic people from AstraZeneca, Novartis, Roche, Eli Lilly, Amgen, Gilead, UCB and Takeda on board, plus support from Enrich and IPA Global. The program includes 40+ sessions, part of which are streamlined – case studies, workshops, and in-depth Q&A sessions. This will not be a typical business conference – on top of insight sharing, we stress the importance of meeting new people, being a part of a „polylogue“ and friendly, open atmosphere.
Eric Towler from CSL Behring will open the event with his Keynote Presentation entitled The WHY, WHAT and HOW of Project and Portfolio Management. He will focus on issues such as the importance of risk management and making choices between projects under resource constraints. Another one of our speakers will be Leigh Shultz from Merck. Leigh will offer her view on „growing project managers“ – managing people who manage projects without managing the projects themselves. Bill Izzo (AstraZeneca) will talk about running the business while changing the business, Shan Rahman (Takeda) will focus on long distance management and Markus Peter from Eisai will compare project management roles in a small biotech vs. large pharma company.
Far-Flung Hopes, Improbable Dreams and Reality
These and many other presenters have decided to go on this new journey with us, and we are extremely thankful, excited and determined to make this the best Pharma PPM event in USA. Naive? Maybe, but we don’t think so. We just can’t help ourselves: we simply love to turn difficult beginnings into improbable successes. And we believe that working with people dedicated to what they do, such as our speakers, we can build something really unique that will be here to stay.
